The CHDP Program is a preventive health
care program for infants, children, and teens. It
provides regular health check-ups at no cost for children
receiving Medi-Cal and children who are from low-income
families. We assist families in finding treatment
services for medical and dental problems found at
the time of a CHDP health check-up.
What is a CHDP health check-up? It is a very complete
health check-up. It consists of:
- A history of the health of your child
- A complete head-to-toe physical
- Checking your childs teeth
- Finding out if your child is eating the right
foods.
- Checking to see if your child is developing normally.
- Answering any questions you may have and advising
you about such issues like diet, safety, and your
childs development and any problems found during
the health check-up.
Depending on your childs age, a CHDP health check-up
includes:
- Vision test
- Hearing test
- Blood pressure check
- A test for anemia (the iron level in your childs
blood)
- Lead test
- Urine test
- A skin test for tuberculosis
- Any needed shots (immunizations)
- Other tests when needed.
Children need regular health check-ups. Health problems
found early can be detected and treated. It keep health
problems from becoming worse and from becoming life-long
disabilities. It also saves medical costs. Find out
of your child is healthy!
Target Population:
For infants, children and youth through age 20 who
