Through the Refugee Health Program, newly arriving refugees
and asylees within Stanislaus County are eligible for
a comprehensive health assessment – free of cost
for the first 90 days after their arrival date.
Refugees/Asylees are then referred to community providers
for all identified health conditions (anemia, parasites,
dental problems as well as mental and emotional issues
are commonly seen), and to establish a medical home
for each client. Recently, the majority of refugees
and asylees entering Stanislaus County have come from
the countries of Iraq, Iran, India, Ukraine, Russia,
Afghanistan, and Columbia. Hmong refugees are expected
to arrive in the U.S. this summer, with primary destinations
of California and Minnesota
