Using tobacco products is one of the most dangerous and damaging things that can be done to the human body.   But it's not just cigarettes, pipes and cigars . . . it's smokeless tobacco as well. Some people think that smokeless tobacco is safer than smoking cigarettes. But, since the tobacco is held in your mouth for minutes at a time, more harmful chemicals can enter your body than when you smoke. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics:
  • Smokeless tobacco is a dangerous and unhealthy option.
  • The nicotine in smokeless tobacco is as addicting as the nicotine in cigarettes.
  • Smokeless tobacco can cause sores and white patches in the mouth and throat, and cracking and bleeding of the lips and gums.
  • It can interfere with the sense of taste and smell. Even worse, it can lead to cancer of the throat, mouth, and gums.
We have created some links to various resources on  tobacco products.  We would encourage you to learn more about the dangerous affects of tobacco products and to measure the health impact that use of tobacco products can have on your life and the lives of those around you.
